Memories of you bring both tears and smiles
When I think of the joys we shared, and your clever wiles
The way you'd come up
and brush your head under my hand,
In this way sharing your love, you'd so quietly stand.
Sometimes I feel cheated, we had so little time
A handful of days in which I could call you mine.
It doesn't seem fair that each day should dawn anew
And I should have to face it Jodie girl, without YOU.
People laugh and smile and life continues to be
I try TOO, but there is this ache deep inside of me.
Today..I SAW you..for a little while.
I shared with you one loving smile.
But then you slowly faded away...
It was as though you came...merely to say "
I love you mistress...so GOD let me appear
I wanted you to know..that I will always be near"
Some may choose not to believe
But I KNOW now, even though I grieve
That you are still very much by my side
That the LOVE that was YOU..has not died.
I realise, that your really all around
In the dusting of snow, and the leaves on the ground,
You're there, amoung the stars twinkling in the sky
Your in the breeze on my face, I can hear your sigh.
With my merry pack you STILL can run
Only you LEAD them now in their joyous fun.
Thankyou Jodie for letting me see
That the LOVE that was YOU will never left me.
*****************
I knew Jodie from the time she was a pup - she belonged to my good friend James Dickson. The same age as our Sadie, she always beat Sadie in the shows and I finally had to pull Sadie back until Jodie championed and then put Sadie back in to finish to her own champion degree. Jodie proved to be a great reproducer as well and we acquired three of her pups from James, first Priss, followed by Luke and Lil Bit. Unable to talk James out of her, we were finally able to lease her in 2003 and a breeding to GRCH Tree Rizin' Sidearm Red Ruger produced our Stephanie, who is proving to be Jodie's finest produce yet. We finally acquired Jodie for our very own in the spring of 2004, only to tragically lose her a few weeks later when she died a noble coonhound's death on the road during a hunt. She will live forever in our hearts and in the achievements of the beautiful babies she left for us.
