Hello and thank you for visiting the coonhound crew! We are just a Texas couple who work hard and play hard and enjoy raising, hunting, and showing our Redbone Coonhounds. We've worked hard and have come a long way, with lots of higher goals for the future.

I grew up with redbones - all coonhounds in fact - owned by my beloved late grandfather. My favorite of his hunting dogs was a walker/redbone cross with the uninspired name of 'Ol Red. Red was a great hunting dog but also my special friend. I moved out of state and my grandfather had to sell all of his dogs due to age, but I never forgot those hounds, especially 'Ol Red, and in 1996 I attended the Texas State Championships and saw my very first coonhound bench show. The hounds I'd grown up with were hunting dogs, so I'd never seen 'conformation' coonhounds and I was absolutely blown away by the dog that won the overall that day, a dog named Reverend Red who remains to this day in my mind the epitome of redbone beauty. I was just in awe at the beauty of The Reverend and I told my husband "Someday I'm going to have a dog just like that". An ad in a local paper led me to the man who would become one of my greatest mentors, James Dickson, who just happened to have a litter just whelped that was sired by Reverend, and of course I had to have one.

Ten years later that first redbone puppy has led to more than a dozen beautiful dogs, many of which trace back to Reverend Red, numerous major show wins, and a long waiting list for puppies shipped all over the country. In addition to great advice from James, I have been blessed with the friendship and direction of Katina Childers of Tree Rizin' Redbones, who has honored me with many of her best dogs and given loads of priceless advice on building my lines.

In 2007 my life was blessed with my new partner in the kennel and in life, my husband Stefan Hill. Although Stefan's limitations as a disabled veteran limit what he can do with the dogs, he loves them as much as I do and has started doing some show handling. He's also developed quite an eye for selection, and was responsible for choosing Bob to add to our stud lineup. Sadly, health and transportation issues have kept us to only a very few select shows the last two years, and this year we have made the decision to spend the kennel profits build the dogs brand new state of the art kennels rather than traveling to a lot of shows, but we are resting on our laurels, still with the same great dogs here at home and getting ready to make our comeback next year so watch out for Howling Hills we are NOT DONE YET!!!!

Although I've at times also owned Treeing Walkers, English and Bluetick coonhounds, my heart and passion will always be in the Redbones. We take a progressive approach to our breeding and placement program to produce dogs that can hunt and show as well as fit into a family situation, screening our buyers carefully to make sure a redbone is right for them and that we choose just the right puppy for them, with many satisfied customers.

We are not a 'well off' couple by any means, with me working full time to supplement Stefan's disability benefits and the small profits from puppy sales - most of the income from the dogs goes directly back into the kennel as we are constantly improving the facilities and equipment. But our passion and dedication to our dogs knows no bounds, and whether we are in the living room surrounded by beautiful red dogs or out at the kennel watching the future generations, and dreaming of the next big winner as we observe the puppies for that cocky strut, raised head, and stunning conformation that holds such promise for the future of our lines, we feel we are truly "RICH".

Of course, one can not truly enjoy riches without sharing them with others, and we enjoy seeing our puppies go into homes that love and appreciate them as much as we do.
